Under the new GBTA Academy, all participants of the past GBTA educational programs in CCTE™, SMMC™ and CGTE are members of the Academy and may maintain their designations.  GBTA has made it easier to maintain your designations by replacing electives with Continuing Education Units (CEUs).  Overall, less hours are required to maintain your designation, CEUs are easier to obtain, and there is a cost saving with only a one time application fee of $125 every three years.

CCTE™, SMMC™, and CGTE designation holders must obtain 20 CEUs within a three-year period to maintain use of their credential.  One (1) continuing education unit is equivalent to 50 minutes (including question and answer sessions) of educational instruction in business travel and/or meetings related topics.

Only GBTA approved educational activities can be reported for CEU credit. The educational program should be listed exactly as the title appears on the printed materials for the event.  Please include the course title, description, the date, location, speaker and proof of attendance for each CEU hour on the reporting form.

Travel professionals with the CCTE™, SMMC™ and CGTE credential can begin tracking CEUs starting January 1, 2012.  CEU renewal forms will be accepted any time between January 2012 - December 2015.  Please only submit this form once all 20 CEU’s have been earned.  If designation holders do not submit their CEU renewal application prior to December 30, 2015, their certification will no longer be valid and the designation can no longer be used.

A notification letter will be sent within 30 business days confirming your credential renewal through 2015.
