GBTA Australia & New Zealand Announces 2013 Annual Conference Details

Melbourne Location with More Content

Melbourne, Australia (13th December 2012) — GBTA today announced details of its 2013 conference, to be held in Melbourne.

Taking place at Melbourne Olympic Park, the event coincides with Melbourne peak sports season and will undoubtedly provide the perfect backdrop for former cricketing great and headline speaker - Max “Tangles” Walker who will open the conference with a discussion on Sports Travel Management -  the innovation, impact and potential opportunities this multi-million dollar industry has on Australia.

Walker’s impressive career, spanning over five decades has seen him go from schoolboy sporting prodigy to one of the most recognisable faces and voices in Australia. Along the way he managed to play Test Cricket for Australia in a golden era, VFL/AFL football for the Melbourne Football Club, take centre stage in the sports media arena and author 14 books.

“We are extremely pleased to be supporting the GBTA and their 2013 line-up. Max is an iconic Australian within his own right, and has experienced, first-hand, the benefits that tailored, result-driven travel processes have for the sporting Industry. His knowledge is invaluable – both to travel providers looking to break into that market as well as his general advice on developing bespoke travel solutions,” commented Sean Simmons, director of Sean Simmons Travel and keynote sponsor for Max.

In addition, the conference will also address other pressing issues impacting the region as well as showcase new technologies and suppliers to the region.

GBTA Director, Rachel Harper, stated “2013 will be an educational year for the business travel industry.  We are providing venues where travel managers from all over the region can come together to network, interact, meet new suppliers and learn about the latest technologies. By providing these events, we are bringing together all the right players under one roof.”

This year’s conference broke all records for attendance, content, and buyer/supplier relations so we are keen to replicate its success in 2013. With even more events scheduled for release Q1 2013. We are committed to maintaining our reputation for leadership and quality venues where travel managers can come together to network, interact, meet new suppliers and learn about the latest technologies.”

GBTA AUS/NZ also announced dates for the second Energy & Resources Travel Symposium for 2013 which is to be held at the Duxton, Perth on 28 - 29 October 2013.
