The 4th annual GBTA Canada Energy, Resources, & Marine Symposium 2017 | Calgary will take place on October 3, 2017. 8:45am – 9:30am Alberta Government’s Climate Leadership Plan.
Recognizing that the province of Alberta has taken a proactive position with a made-in-Alberta strategy to implement the Climate Leadership Plan, a plan that will largely affect the provinces economy and its enterprise contributors heavily weighted in energy and resources.  A representative from the Alberta Government will address the key indicators and direction put forth in this plan, as it relates to the current state of Alberta’s oil, gas, energy & resources companies. 
9:30am – 10:30am Debunking the Myth:   Corporate Innovation in the Energy Sector Hear from a panel of subject-matter experts from the energy sector discussing how their respective organizations are transforming as a result of the emerging new global business reality.  Panelists will discuss the impact of the Climate Leadership Plan, current market conditions and how these are shaping industry.

11:00am – 12:00pm Supplier Insights: Environmental Footprint of a Travel Program
Hear from a panel of Canadian travel subject matter experts, discussing the industry’s need for greater understanding of the environmental footprint of a travel program, and what suppliers today are doing in response.  Data analytics, reporting, off-setting, environmental initiatives, this panel will provide insights into best practices and initiatives that corporate buyers can integrate into their travel programs.

Intro to Advanced Principles of Business Travel Management
This high-level, condensed version of GBTA’s 2-day professional development course, The Advanced Principles of Business Travel Management, will deliver an introduction to critical components of this curriculum in the key competencies required of business travel professionals, including; travel program administration, buyer and supplier relations, data analysis, and strategic planning. As a Manager/Director-Level Education Program, this workshop is intended for both travel buyers overseeing a managed business travel program and suppliers offering travel-related products and services, appropriate for all levels of experience, however ideal for those with a minimum of three years of industry experience. Attendees of this afternoon segment will receive a certificate of completion for the introductory course, and a special offer to complete the full 2-day program offered in Toronto, in conjunction with GBTA Conference 2018 - Toronto, April 16-18, 2018. The Advanced Principles of Business Travel Management also provides learnings around the competencies that comprise the four domains of practice covered in the Global Travel Professional (GTP) designation examination.
