Business Travel Workshop Series: Introduction to Advanced Principles of Business Travel Management

This high-level, condensed version of GBTA’s 2-day professional development course, The Advanced Principles of Business Travel Management, will deliver an introduction to critical components of this curriculum in the key competencies required of business travel professionals, including; travel program administration, buyer and supplier relations, data analysis, and strategic business planning. As a Manager/Director-Level Education Program, this workshop is intended for both travel buyers overseeing a managed business travel program and suppliers offering travel-related products and services, appropriate for all levels of experience, however ideal for those with a minimum of three years of industry experience. Attendees of this afternoon segment will receive a certificate of completion for the introductory course, and a special offer to complete the full 2-day program offered in Toronto, in-conjunction with the GBTA Conference 2018 – Toronto, April 16-18, 2018. The Advanced Principles of Business Travel Management also provides learnings around the competencies that comprise the four domains of practice covered in the Global Travel Professional GTP designation examination.

Rick K. Wakida, CTE, CCTE, GLP, Global Travel Manager, Informatica
Rick Wakida began his career in corporate travel management in 1995 and has developed and managed travel programs for both public and private companies in various industries, including financial services, bio-pharmaceutical, telecommunications, software and semiconductor. He is a subject matter expert in global travel management, travel sourcing and procurement, expense report audits, commercial card programs and strategic meetings management.
Rick is an active leader in the industry, previously serving as President of the Silicon Valley BTA and Chairman of the NBTA Hotel Committee, and is currently Co-Chair of the GBTA Government Relations Committee. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and an MBA in Finance and, prior to entering travel management, worked for ten years in Finance at Bank of America.
