NBTA Canada Media Brief – October 2, 2007
25 Begin Professional Designation Program at NBTA Canada Calgary Event
The National Business Travel Association Canada (NBTA Canada), the leading provider of education and professional resources for corporate travel professionals in Canada, yesterday held an Education Day in Calgary at which 25 corporate travel professionals took the Canadian Fundamentals of Business Travel Management course. More than 70 percent of participants were travel managers, or corporate travel buyers.
Attendees are now eligible to take the Corporate Travel Expert (CTE) exam, and those who successfully complete the exam will earn the professional designation CTE, which demonstrates the holder has a fundamental understanding of the principles and practice of travel management. The course in Calgary was taught by NBTA Vice President Michael W. Lyons, CCTE. NBTA Canada held a similar program last month in Toronto.
The program is a version of the Fundamentals of Business Travel Management course offered by NBTA, the parent organization of NBTA Canada, with content tailored for the Canadian market. The Fundamentals of Business Travel Management is one of three unique levels of professional development offered by NBTA:
- Fundamentals of Business Travel Management/CTE – the only introductory course and designation for corporate travel professionals
- Certified Corporate Travel Executive (CCTE) – the only certification course for corporate travel professionals; designed for professionals with at least two years of experience in the business travel field
- Global Leadership Professional (GLP) - the only master’s-level education for corporate travel professionals; offered by the NBTA Foundation in conjunction with The Wharton School of Business
