In 1997, the Board of Directors of the then-National Business Travel Association (NBTA) had a vision— to establish a high quality education and research resource for the business travel industry. Through this vision, the Institute of Business Travel Management (IBTM) was founded, dedicating to become the premiere standard for the business travel industry by identifying trends that affect business travel and provide travel managers and industry partners with the tools they need to prepare for change. In order to meet the financial needs of this agenda, NBTA and IBTM launched a capital campaign to achieve this goal.
On this date, 20 years ago at the IBTM Inaugural Gala Dinner, the success of the first campaign was announced which led to the launch of what is now known today as the GBTA Foundation. From our humble beginnings to our present day status as a global organization, the GBTA Foundation has stayed true to its original vision and is proud to celebrate 20 years of equipping professionals in the business travel industry with cutting-edge research and world-renowned education.
Join us over the next few months, through a series of flashbacks and fun facts, as we celebrate the success of the GBTA Foundation and 20 years of shaping business travel.
