Orbitz for Business, Travelport and TRX Designate their Partnership with NBTA Foundation around Education

As 14 additional NBTA Members wrap up their 12-month projects and prepare to receive the industries highest designation, three industry leaders have partnered with the NBTA Foundation to support the GLP Designation Program.  Orbitz for Business, Travelport, and TRX have formed a partnership with the Foundation to provide the resources necessary for NBTA members to continue to utilize the skills and knowledge they have gained from their Global Leadership Professional experience at the Wharton School.  Through the GLP Designation program, business travel professionals have an opportunity to use the expertise they have gained during the GLP program, apply it to a current industry issue, and then in turn share that knowledge with their peers in an effort to help better the travel industry.  “The GLP Designation provides both buyers and suppliers with a unique opportunity to give back to the industry through relevant research initiatives.  We are pleased to partner with the NBTA Foundation on this program and look forward to the resulting research that will benefit our entire industry,” explained Dean Sivley, Senior Vice President/COO, Orbitz for Business.

The Global Leadership Professional designation (GLP) was created to acknowledge business travel professionals who had completed the Global Leadership Professional program coursework, received their Certificate of Professional Development and then applied that knowledge to help further the industry through a related group project.  Participants completing the 12-month designation program will be honored at NBTA's Annual Convention and then be able to carry the GLP designation following their names.  “TRX is excited to participate in the program and to help these individuals achieve the highest designation in the business travel industry,” stated Shane Hammond, President and CEO, TRX.

“The GLP Designation Program provides an opportunity for industry leaders to not only focus their efforts and expertise on an industry issue, but then be able to bring their learning full circle through the delivery of an education session that benefits us all,” Travis Christ, President, The Americas, Travelport.  During the NBTA Annual Convention each of the three designation teams will present the results of the work during one of the more than 40 education sessions delivered over the three days.  In many cases, the designation participants will serve as the panelist, along side other industry experts in the relevant topic areas.

During the NBTA Convention a new group of industry professionals will begin their journey toward the GLP Designation.  There are still a few seats available for those that have completed their GLP coursework and received their Certificate of Professional Development.  To apply for the 2009-2010 GLP Designation program please click here.
