Members of the 2008-2009 GLP Designation Program are preparing to deliver the results of their year long industry-related research projects during the NBTA 41st International Convetion & Exposition.
The GLP Designation teams, comprised of fifteen industry leaders who have previously earned their Certificate of Professional Development, have been split into teams to deliver research on three different topic areas through education sessions during Convention.
The first education session being presented on Monday, August 24th, Harness the Power of the Millennial Generation, focuses on research that will assist interpreting this generation’s different values, use of technology and buying habits and illustrate how it will affect your travel management programs. Attendees are invited to participate in this interactive session and bring innovative ideas back to your company. Session attendees are encouraged to join the discussion using Twitter (#NBTA 09).
Tuesday morning in San Diego, the second GLP team will deliver From Blocking and Tackling to Strategic Managing: Meeting your CFO's Expectations. This education session focuses on the what, the how, and the why as it relates to delivering travel data being requested from and presented to C-Suite executives. Travel professionals will gain leading business acumen on performance management and communication techniques. Attendees will hear the guiding principles in upward communication, what is valuable to your CFO, key strategies common to successful travel professionals and receive a Tool Kit 2.0 for today’s business climate.
During the second round of education sessions on Tuesday morning, the third GLP Designation Team will deliver, Golden Green – Strategic Collaboration for Long Term Success. This session will focus on best practices in creating a green travel program and green travel policy and how to practically communicate, apply and track that program. Each of the panelists will focus on a unique aspect of the program describing the success and how they achieved it. In addition to a panel discussion, there will be a “How To” document distributed indicating the steps to success, the timeline to achieve success and the stakeholders to invite for each of the aspects of the process being discussed.
Designation participant Cheryl Geib says, “The GLP Designation Program is worthwhile and challenging. Unlike the GLP program that is based primarily in the classroom, this program allows team members to work together toward a common goal and put theory into action. In depth research, analysis and collaboration are the key components that are not only critical to the success of the project but necessary skills in the workplace.”
After conducting their education sessions, participants will receive the GLP Designation. Participants in the program will be honored during the Tuesday General Session at Convention.
