Basic Information

In addition to completing 2 Core Weeks of study, as a CGTE participant you must also earn electives credits as follows:

• To receive your initial CGTE Certification – you must earn 3 elective credits
• To maintain your CGTE Certification – you must earn 1 elective credit per year from the date you receive your certification

Electives are offered by both the CGTE program and the Certified Corporate Travel Executive (CCTE) program.  We allow participants from each group to select electives from each program to best suit their needs.  The cost of these electives can range anywhere from $85 - $235 for members and $125-$335 for non-members. 

There are various formats for CGTE Electives:

• Online Electives – These electives are offered via Web-Based Learning and are 2 hours in length.  Completion of  3 online courses = 1 full credit 
• Education Days – Education days incorporate a variety of topics presented in 3-4 sessions during one 8 hour day.  Completion of 1 Education day = 1 full credit
• Electives offered prior to GBTA & GTG events – Throughout the year, GBTA & GTG will offer full day electives prior to the start of an event.  These electives will take place during the two days prior to the start of the event.  Completion of 1 full day = 1 full credit

Attendance at a Government Hosted Event

Government offers many events throughout the year that can satisfy an elective requirement.  In order to receive an elective credit for attending such an event training sessions must be Continuous Learning Points (CLP) certified.   

Attending an event in its entirety will count for 1 elective credit.  Attendees must provide the following for elective credit to be issued:

• Proof of registration in the form of an invoice or email confirmation (CC and SSN information is NOT required)
• CGTE Event Spreadsheet that details courses completed and includes brief description of topics covered.

Attendance at an GBTA Event

CGTE participants can earn a credit for attending an event hosted or sponsored by GBTA.  1 elective credit will be granted for attendance.  In order to receive this credit you simply need to sign in with an GBTA or GTG Staff Member who is onsite at the event(s).

Please note: No elective credit will earned for attendance at the GBTA International Annual Convention as the opportunity to earn an elective credit is offered prior to the start of the event.
