President's Letter

Our March meeting
at the Villa Christina saw the largest
attendance of the year! Thanks to all
for turning out despite the inclement
weather. Mike Griffin and his committee
provided a very warm welcome to our
new GBTA members. We also had many guests
in attendance that enjoyed their first
GBTA meeting.
Fred Fischer,
Senior Vice President of FLO Registered
Traveler provided the latest detailed
information on the program for Atlanta
and the rest of the country. The programs
are offering more features in addition
to the "fast lane" service.
I'd like to thank
the Sheraton Perimeter Atlanta
North and Enterprise Rent a Car
for providing accommodations and transportation
for our speaker.
Prentis
VanDuvall of the Westin Perimeter North
presented Vic Sams, our Vice-President
with a platinum sponsorship of $1,000.00.
Thank you Prentis!!!
As of our March
4th meeting we have not received
any applications for our first quarter
scholarship of $1,000.00. The deadline
is March 15th. Please
take advantage of this wonderful opportunity
offered by GBTA. The application form
is on our web site.
Our next meeting
is a dinner meeting on April 1, 2008.
Our speaker
will be Rod Eckard from Dale Carnegie.
This meeting will focus more on enhancing
your personal career development rather
than a specific travel topic.
As a reminder,
please register for our CCTE Education
Day scheduled for May 16.
I look
forward to another great GBTA meeting
on April 1. See you there.
Sincerely
George Dunwoody
GBTA President 2008

GBTA April 1 Dinner Meeting
Location: Hilton Garden
Inn Atlanta Centennial Park
Speaker:
Rod Eckard, Dale Carnegie
Have you ever been in one of those situations
where you can't remember the person's
name? It can be an awkward situation
for both you and the other person. Dale
Carnegie said that, "A person's name
is to that person, the sweetest,
most important sound in any language".
Remembering someone's name, tells them,
"You're important". It projects
a deeper level of interest or concern.
On April 1st, plan to attend and
participate in an energetic, interactive
session led by Ron Eckard, Dale Carnegie.
During this session Ron will offer
proven techniques like Name Remembering
Formula and Name Remembering Tools,
an important link in our communication
and interpersonal skills.

GBTA March Luncheon
at Villa Christina
Even torrential
rains could not stop the 100 GBTA members
who met on March 4 at Villa Christina
to hear Fred Fischer speak on the current
status and what lies ahead for Registered
Traveler programs. It was a great program to
help GBTA members to stay on the
leading edge of a program that will
soon be arriving at Hartsfield-Jackson
International.
More photos of the March meeting are
available on the GBTA website, click here.
