President's Letter
I
hope each and every one of you had
an enjoyable Thanksgiving holiday
with your family and friends. This
is the time of year we should start
counting the many blessing we have
and start to reflect on what an amazing
year it has been.
I
wanted to start with myself and say
thank you for allowing me to be your
president and your leader this year
and the opportunity to give back to
GBTA. I have learned many things from
all of you and for that I'm grateful.
Our
luncheon meeting at the Atlanta Fish
Market was a huge success with one
of our largest attended meetings to
date. Our speaker was Theresa Tamer
from Coca-Cola on behalf of NBTA.
Theresa spoke about Integrating Meetings
and Travel with your company. This
subject certainly impacts all of our
businesses.
We
have completed the election process
and I'll be glad to announce our new
"Board of Directors" at the Holiday
Gala on December 6th at
the beautiful Buckhead Club. The meeting
request has already gone out and if
you haven't done so pleases RSVP today!
George
Dunwoody was our on air talent when
he gave Bert Wise the check for $4,000.00
for "Bert's Big Adventure" on the
air at Q-100 and gave GBTA a huge
plug for all to hear! Way to go George!!
Tara
Parker with Community Affairs announced
that GBTA will adopt the military
base at Warner Robbins. We'll be collecting
Christmas gifts for the troop's families
serving our Country. Also we'll be
caroling to the elderly at Wesley
Woods one day the week of December
10th look for the announcement
soon.
The
deadline has passed for the "Martha
Fuller" scholarship which will be
awarded at the Holiday Gala for $1,000.00
and can be applied toward the GLP
or CCTE designation or attending the
NBTA convention in 2008.
Lastly,
we held a special luncheon at the
Sheraton downtown to recognize all
the active committee members and their
service to GBTA for 2007. Without
each and every one of you GBTA wouldn't
be as successful as we are. A very
big thank you to Jennifer Clayburn
from the Sheraton Atlanta for hosting
us! I would encourage you to get involved
again for 2008!
The next meeting will be our Spectacular
Holiday Gala at the Buckhead Club
on December 6th. This
will be my last meeting as your president
so I'm really looking forward to what
is always one of my favorite meetings.
Please don't forget to bring a gift
for a child or two to support our
troop's families serving our Country.
Come in your Festive Attire for some
fun socializing and dancing!
Happy Holidays and see you all at
the Gala!
