A Black and White Look at Our Past

As many of you know, this year marks our 50th anniversary of hosting GBTA Convention, and we can't wait to celebrate with you in the beautiful San Diego! In honor of that, we’ve been providing a glimpse into our history through a series of Throwback Thursday posts, like last week’s piece on famous speakers through Convention history.

Today we’re sharing a few photos from the 1960s to 1970s, during which GBTA was initially founded as the National Passenger Traffic Association (NPTA) in 1968.

1966 – A meeting of the New Jersey Travel Managers Association, one of the seven corporate travel associations that agreed to support the founding of NPTA

1967 – A group of passenger travel associations began laying the groundwork for what would become NPTA

1968 – NPTA’s first annual Convention was held

1978 – The NPTA Board of Directors

1979 – NPTA President Ed Rathke and former NPTA President Pat Doran at our Orlando Convention

1979 – NPTA President Ed Rathke at our Orlando Convention

Stay tuned every Thursday for more throwback posts, and share your favorite Convention memories with us on Twitter using #TBT and tagging @GlobalBTA!
