Survey: Most Buyers Project 2021 Domestic Travel Return

About three-quarters of corporate travel buyers and procurement professionals surveyed this month by the Global Business Travel Association project their organizations will resume non-essential domestic business travel sometime this year, if they haven’t already.

About 60 percent of the approximately 302 respondents to the GBTA survey, which was conducted online March 8-13, indicated they believe their organizations will restart such travel in the second half of 2021, with about 24 percent projecting no restart until 2022. About 7 percent indicated such travel already has restarted, with the remainder suggesting it would start by the end of June. – FEATURES GBTA (SOURCE: BUSINESS TRAVEL NEWS)

The Politics of Travel

ARP:
As we discussed in the last Politics of Travel, Congress passed, and the President signed the $1.9 Trillion American Recovery Plan. The plan invests billions of dollars to increase the availability of COVID-19 vaccines, expand testing capacity, and bolster the public health system’s ability to respond to the virus. Our friends at Cornerstone Government Affairs produced an excellent break down of the bill. 628 pages reduced to two.

Business Travel Industry Optimistic About Digital Health Verification

Chris Ely, research director at the Global Business Travel Association, (GBTA) offers some insights into GBTA’s 17th monthly poll on the impact of the pandemic on the business travel industry.

The poll uncovered some optimism around digital health verification programs. Two-thirds of GBTA members and stakeholders (66%) believe implementing digital health verification (also known as “vaccination passports”) is a good policy. Among those who feel digital health verification is a good idea, most believe it is a quick and easy way to document that people have been vaccinated, which will help employees safely resume business travel.
