Message from Scott Solombrino on Kevin Maguire’s Passing

It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that Kevin Maguire, GBTA’s Vice President of LATAM, passed away today, February 21, 2020 from stage four brain cancer. Kevin is survived by his two wonderful children, Chris and Shannon, and his girlfriend, Heidi.

Kevin was truly beloved by many within our industry. Many of his friends and colleagues traveled from all over the country to visit him before he passed away, and dozens of others sent cards and gifts. He was a funny, kind-hearted, quick-witted, and gentle person who dedicated much of his life to the travel industry and to the Global Business Travel Association. Kevin was a shining example of volunteerism. Before coming on staff full-time, he had served on the GBTA board for 20+ years, including two terms as President and Chairman.

Kevin was passionate about travel, and particularly about the LATAM region. He was a strong advocate for GBTA’s expansion into the region for multiple years. Once we agreed to move forward, he joined the staff and gave the last years of his life to build relationships in the region. He spearheaded the rollout of our various conferences and education days. Kevin’s legacy in the LATAM region will be felt forever.

Personally, I will miss talking to him every day. I will miss joking around and yet always knowing that he had my back, as I had his. The world is a much better place for all of us because we knew and loved Kevin Maguire.

Information regarding Kevin’s memorial service is not yet available. When the details are finalized, we will be sure to communicate them to you.
