Check-In with Suzanne: Using Insights to Power Our Path in Business Travel

April marked Earth Month and, for the GBTA Foundation and so many of you, it was a good time to take stock on how to best focus on creating a greener future for our industry and ourselves. To keep that focus, last week the Foundation released a first-of-its-kind report, “Managing Emissions From Business Travel Programs: Overview of Corporate Best Practices.” This report, which taps purpose-driven companies to benchmark their approaches toward decarbonizing their travel programs, provides a pathway of building blocks and a toolbox of action areas, in reducing carbon emissions efficiently. Download the report here to help your organization reduce Scope 3.6 emissions in your travel program.

Last week, as well, the GBTA Board of Directors shared a wealth of association updates and information in a virtual Town Hall. Among the updates, they announced the opening of nominations on April 24 for upcoming 2023 Board elections. There are five elected seats to fill, including two officers’ roles. Nominations close May 8 – with member voting between July 19 and August 11th. Visit here to learn more about the qualifications, or to nominate yourself or someone else. There’s no better way to have your voice heard and represent the voices of others across GBTA and the industry thaen to serve in this leadership capacity.

And there’s more! In our latest GBTA Business Travel Outlook Poll, released last week, we explore current industry sentiment around key topics in our industry. The 31st in our series with a robust 800+ respondents, April’s poll reflects industry insights on airline retailing strategies and New Distribution Capability, rebuilding our workforce and attracting new talent, and how the traveler experience is faring amid disruption. It’s also a great indicator for the health of our industry that buyers reporting their domestic and international travel bookings and spending continue to increase quarter over quarter. You’ll be able to find all of the poll results here.

Very soon in Toronto, we’re bringing our collective voices together again for the annual GBTA Canada Conference, May 15-17. In its 19th year, this is the premier business travel event for the region offering expert speakers, buyer and supplier only sessions, and unmatched learning opportunities. Register here to attend.

Let us know what you think of our reports, Town Hall, and poll results. And you soon!
