GBTA Commends Canadian Government’s Introduction of New Verified Traveller Program

The Global Business Travel Association (GBTA), the voice of the global business travel industry, supports the recent announcement by the Canadian government to launch a new Verified Traveller program that will offer a faster and more efficient screening experience for eligible travellers at select airports across Canada.

“As the voice of global business travellers and the industry, we are pleased the Canadian government continues to better align itself with our international partners and we welcome the government’s continued effort to improve passenger facilitation,” said Sharlene Ketwaroo-Nanoo, GBTA Regional Director for Canada. “The movement of business travelers in a safe and efficient manner is a key platform for GBTA as it ensures the ease of movement for international travel which increases opportunities for face-to-face global meetings.”

The new Verified Traveller program will replace the current Trusted Traveller program, with dedicated screening lines available at select domestic and international checkpoints in the following airports:

• Vancouver International Airport
• Edmonton International Airport
• Calgary International Airport
• Winnipeg International Airport
• Toronto-Pearson International Airport T1 and T3
• Montreal-Trudeau International Airport

The new program will provide eligible travellers with select benefits at security screening checkpoints, such as keeping laptops, large electronics and compliant liquids and gels in their carry-on, and keeping their shoes, belt and light jacket on.

The new program will launch June 23, 2023. Details can be found here.
