GBTA Global Advocacy Newsletter – May 2025

Today’s world is a Ball of Confusion. Crystal Palace Football Club is experiencing their best season ever and has won the FA Cup. Discussions have emerged regarding Canada’s potential accession to the European Union. In the United States, the GBTA April poll indicated a slowdown in business travel and a reconsideration of traveling to the U.S. While U.S. Customs and Border Protection state otherwise, media reports fuel speculation of increased searches at the borders of entry. The US National Travel and Tourism Office reports that business travel to the United States decreased by 9% in April 2025. Consequently, travel to the U.S. has become more complex. To address these challenges, GBTA’s Risk Committee and VDR have collaborated on a paper offering tips for traveling to the United States (coming soon).

As this is a GLOBAL Advocacy newsletter, we at GBTA want you to hear from the many different voices of GBTA staff. As such, this month’s “Deep Thoughts” is authored by Fulvio Origo, Country Director, GBTA Italy and Europe Advocacy.
