GBTA Hails New CDC Guidelines as Huge Step Forward for Business Travel

Alexandria, Virginia – The Global Business Travel Association (GBTA), the world’s largest business travel association and worldwide leader in advocacy for the industry, hails today’s updated guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that fully vaccinated people can resume travel at low risk to themselves. As part of today’s highly anticipated update, the CDC’s decision also eliminates some testing and quarantine recommendations for travelers who are fully vaccinated.

“Today’s decision by the CDC is an enormous step forward for business travel in the U.S. and around the world,” says Suzanne Neufang, CEO of GBTA. “By all reports, we are seeing an increasing willingness to travel, especially among travelers who already have been vaccinated against COVID-19. We will continue to work with world leaders, business decision-makers, our 9,000 members globally, and stakeholders across the travel sector to safely and efficiently get business travelers back on the road when they’re ready.”

As part of today’s updated guidance, the CDC said that as long as coronavirus precautions like mask-wearing are taken – guidance of which GBTA continues to be fully supportive – fully vaccinated people can travel within the United States without getting tested for COVID-19 before or self-quarantining after. Click here to view the CDC’s updated guidance.
