GBTA Honors Outstanding Members

BOSTON (July 20, 2017) – The Global Business Travel Association (GBTA)—the voice of the global business travel industry, awarded three distinguished members during GBTA Convention 2017 in Boston.

GBTA ICON Award—Dave Hilfman, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales, United Airlines.
Direct Member of the Year—Erin Wilk, Global Travel and Security Manager, Facebook, Inc.
Allied Member of the Year—Doug Anderson, Chief Executive Officer, American Express Global Business Travel (GBT)

Dave Hilfman was the recipient of the prestigious GBTA ICON Award. Scott Solombrino, GBTA Allied Leadership Council President presented the award. “Dave is someone who believes in the power of connections, friendships and partnerships,” Solombrino said. “He is one of those magical people who can make everyone feel loved and important. He too is an icon, one who has been a great ambassador for business travel and has been a strong supporter and partner to GBTA for decades. To say that Dave is well liked is an understatement. This man is truly beloved.”

This honor has been bestowed to only eight other individuals in the past forty-nine years.

Erin Wilk is this year’s recipient of the GBTA Direct Member of the Year Award. This award recognizes a buyer member whose unwavering dedication and effort have had significant benefits for GBTA and the industry. GBTA President Christle Johnson presented the award. “Erin is known by her peers and within the travel industry as go-getter, a game-changer and a strong leaders,” Johnson said. “She knows the importance of having a strong network and the value of making connections.”

Doug Anderson is this year’s recipient of the GBTA Allied Member of the Year Award. This award is presented to an individual whose dedication, enthusiasm and hard work have generated significant benefits for GBTA and the business travel industry. Scott Solombrino also presented this award. “What makes Doug so successful is that he is so results-oriented,” Solombrino said. “He has an uncanny ability to figure out the end goal and how best to get there. He is strategic thinker with a large dose of practicality. And he has a widely deserved reputation as someone who delivers on each promise.”
