Business Travelers Say Loyalty Matters in Hotel Booking

On average, business travelers consider three hotels before booking and 82 percent say loyalty programs matter when making that decision, according to new research out today from the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) in partnership with Omni Hotels & Resorts. Additionally, the study reveals nine in 10 business travelers view rewards points and perks as a motivating factor in selecting a hotel and 81 percent believe being a loyalty member results in better service.

Basic economy fares introduced last year by many airlines are typically cheaper, but come with restrictions, and business travel programs are not on board with them, according to new research out today from the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) in partnership with Airlines Reporting Corporation (ARC). The study reveals a majority of travel programs (63 percent) never allow basic economy and even more (79 percent) configure their booking tool to hide basic economy fares when travelers are not authorized.

GBTA and ITM Announce Long-Term Joint Venture

The Global Business Travel Association (GBTA), the voice of the global business travel industry, and The Institute of Travel Management (ITM), the leading managed business travel association in the UK and Ireland, have announced the creation of a new London-based event for the managed travel and meetings sector. The joint venture is part of a deeper, collaborative partnership between both associations.
