The Global Business Travel Association (GBTA), the voice of the global business travel industry, is pleased to announce the launch of registration for GBTA Convention 2018. Next year’s Convention, the largest, most comprehensive annual gathering of business travel and meetings managers, meeting planners, procurement professionals and suppliers in the world will be held in San Diego, August 11-15, 2018.

The Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) – the voice of the global business travel industry – recently honored Torsten Kriedt, Vice President for Product Strategy and Innovation at BCD Travel, with the prestigious Luoma Award. Gehan Colliander, Chair of the GBTA Europe Advisory Board, presented the award during GBTA Conference 2017 Frankfurt in partnership with VDR last month.

Artificial intelligence (AI), duty of care and traveller centricity were among the hot topics discussed throughout the three-day industry gathering bringing together travel professionals and industry leaders for Europe’s largest business travel event.

Access to Risk Management Services Still Far From Universal

Duty of Care Made Difficult by Lack of Visibility into Travel Plans

The vast majority of business travellers feel their companies take duty of care seriously, yet access to various risk management services is far from universal, according to new research released today from the GBTA Foundation, the education and research arm of the Global Business Travel Association. Roughly one-third of German, French and UK business travellers say their organisation does not provide an assistance hotline to call in an emergency or unexpected event – one of the most basic services available.

Travel Coalition Supports the TSA Modernization Act

Alexandria, VA (October 24, 2017) – Today, a coalition of travel associations sent a letter to the Senate Leadership urging support for S. 1872, the TSA Modernization Act. A copy of that letter can be found here. The TSA Modernization Act would advance the deployment of new technologies at security checkpoints, mitigate risks to public areas at airports, and reduce delays in air travel. The bill would also give the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) additional tools to expand TSA PreCheck, a valuable trusted traveler program that increases security at the checkpoint while providing for expedited screening.
