GBTA President’s Perspective

Looking Back with Gratitude and Ahead with Optimism

As my term as President concludes at GBTA Convention 2023, I’ve been reflecting on my decade-plus journey on the GBTA Board of Directors and as a chapter volunteer. From CPC President to Director At-Large, then Vice President, and finally, President, I am filled with immense gratitude for the opportunity to serve this association and its members.

As the first President elected by all members – Direct and Allied, per bylaw changes in 2021 – serving our collective global community has been a privilege and a responsibility. It’s been an honor to represent the GBTA membership and to be a part of an amazing association, working alongside extraordinary leaders and driving our industry forward.

Central to our approach as a Board has been a commitment to listening to our members. With collaboration, transparency and trust, we sought to understand and deliver what our GBTA community needed.

We worked together to bring greater financial stability and governance to the association while continuing to provide strong value for all members.

We upheld the critical work of the association and celebrated the milestones together, while growing GBTA’s footprint and impact in the business travel industry and beyond. Through our many members, volunteers and teams, we collaborated as an organization and united as an industry to reach our common goals.

Communication and engagement were essential pillars of our mission. We ensured that members were kept informed through initiatives such as Board Town Halls and regular Board Spotlights in GBTA’s newsletter. We also cultivated an inclusive environment, fostering collaboration between GBTA leadership, staff, volunteers and members.

Voting for this year’s GBTA elections comes to a close today and there are five seats open on the Board of Directors, including that of President – your vote is your voice and I urge you to be heard.

Even as I pass the reins to a newly elected Board President in a few days, I’ll continue to be supportive, active and engaged in the ongoing mission and work of GBTA and the global business travel community.

It’s time to look forward to a new and optimistic future for global business travel and GBTA. I can’t wait to see you at Convention in Dallas − and to see what we’ll do next together.

Denise
