GBTA Convention Kicks Off, Recognizes Outstanding Volunteers

For the next few days, the GBTA Convention in Dallas will serve as the amazing backdrop for action, insights and connection as the global travel industry gathers to create a strong road ahead.

“Here at Convention 2023, we're welcoming more than 5,200 registered attendees from 58 countries including over 1,000 travel buyers from over 600 companies and over 300 exhibiting companies for an incredibly jam-packed few days. We're bringing together our ‘Many Voices’ for the ‘One Purpose’ of building a better future for business travel through community, learning and advocacy," said Denise Truso, President, GBTA in the opening Main Stage session.

Sunday was about celebrating volunteers because volunteers are the ones who make GBTA what it is. The following recipients were announced and celebrated yesterday at the GBTA Convention for their contributions:

GBTA Direct Member of the Year Award went to: Benjamin Park, Executive Director, Travel and Sustainability, at Parexel International. This award recognizes a travel buyer member whose unwavering dedication and efforts have had a significantly positive impact on both the association and the travel management industry.

GBTA Allied Member of the Year Award went to: Samantha Bean, Corporate Director, Sales Development for LTD Hospitality Group. The award recognizes a travel industry supplier member whose unwavering dedication and efforts have had a significant, positive impact on both the association and the travel management industry.

The 2023 President's Award went to: Rita Visser, Director of Global Travel Sourcing and GPO for Oracle. This award is given each year to recognize the outstanding contributions of a GBTA Member who provides leadership and vision within the association and advances the travel management industry.

The 2023 Hilfman Leadership Scholarship went to: Mike Daly, Senior Vice President at Serko. In 2021, the GBTA Board established the Hilfman Leadership scholarship to be awarded to honor a worthy member of the industry who may use the monetary award to further their personal and professional development.
