Main Stage:  Recovery and Opportunities:  The State of Business Travel, Tourism and MICE

Our co-hosts Liz Ortiguera (CEO, PATA) and Suzanne Neufang (CEO, GBTA) will share the emerging trends and opportunities as we drive towards a global travel recovery. We further explore the renewed interest in blending business and leisure travel and activities, as today’s travellers are thinking more about how they spend their time at home and on the road, and the impact on the environment and local communities.

Welcome Remarks: Ben Liao, Vice Chair, PATA and Chairman, Forte Hotel Group provides the office welcome to open our event, followed by PATA CEO Liz Ortiguera will share insights into the trends reshaping the Asia Pacific travel landscape, leveraging data from the Association’s research department as well as its members and partners; and Suzanne Neufang, GBTA CEO, shares insights on Top 5 Megatrends in business travel, layering in data from global polling GBTA has been conducting since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fireside Chat: Darrell Wade, Chairman of Travalyst, Co-founder on Intrepid Travel, Executive Chair of the Intrepid Group sits down with Suzanne Neufang to discuss current situations within the industry and the specifics and opportunities within the Asia-Pacific Region.

Travel & The Law of Attraction: Talent is hard to come by and even harder to attract when an industry loses its luster. How do we make travel a reason people want to work for an organisation, or join the industry itself? Greg O’Neil, President, Asia Pacific, Middle East, Africa & Global Network, BCD Travel shares key findings from The Big Idea: a GBTA Europe workshop recently held on this existential issue – including how D&I, modern technologies, traveller well-being, and sustainability can support a fundamental shift in perception.

Main Stage: Recovery with Sustainability

Climate change and efforts to improve sustainability practices continue to be relevant throughout the travel industry, particularly as travellers are making more socially conscious decisions in their travel planning. Together, let’s take a look at what’s happening today, what’s on the horizon and how we can reduce the environmental impact of travel to contribute to positive change, especially as we look towards recovery in the region.

The Sustainable Future of Asia: Kishore Mahbubani, Distinguished Fellow, Asia Research Institute, National University of Singapore will examine the global economic landscape and its relation to sustainability, highlighting the growth potential of the Asia Pacific region. He will then sit down with PATA CEO Liz Ortiguera to better understand its impact on travel and tourism.

Sustainability in Hospitality: As the world pursues a shift to net-zero, the impact of travel is part of every company’s value chain footprint that will need to be addressed. This session will explore the key sustainability commitments and frameworks that have arisen to support this, as well as the practical tools and resources available to travel companies today to help reduce their footprint and drive change, with Eric Ricaurte, Founder and CEO of Greenview.

Return on Sustainability: The sustainability landscape is an ever-changing one, made more complex by the prevailing macroeconomic environment. As the impact of climate change is felt more than ever, and key stakeholders are galvanised to double down on their climate action efforts, there is a need to design a strategy that integrates purposeful sustainability goals with financial objectives. This session shares about how a greater impetus for corporates to go green does not necessarily equate to a case of being at odds with financial returns with Siew Kim Beh, Chief Financial & Sustainability Officer, CapitaLand Investment and Managing Director – Japan, Korean, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myn at The Ascott Limited.

Recovery with Sustainability: Our speakers are joined by travel industry experts including Sanghamitra Bose, VP and GM, Singapore, Hong Kong and Thailand, American Express Global Business Travel for a moderated discussion by Andrea Giuricin, CEO, TRA consulting SL on turning ideas into action.

Trends and Insights into Aviation:  The aviation industry is a critical component to the sustainable and resilient recovery of the tourism industry. This session will examine the current trends and insights in aviation and the route to recovery with sustainability with Jeffrey Goh, CEO, Star Alliance
