Serving Others and Volunteering with GBTA in 2023

In this feature series, GBTA’s Board of Directors share their views on topics that matter most to members, the industry, and the way forward for business travel. Today’s guest author is GBTA Board member, Michelle “Mick” Lee. 

In my dual role as board member of GBTA and Founder and Chair of WINiT, I have had the privilege to partner with and learn from members of the organization since 2018. The question I am asked the most is “how can I get involved and how can I serve?”    

There are many studies that cite the criticality of connecting volunteer work with interests. Executive Leadership Coach and Author Hortense le Gentil believes we must “align our personal values with our professional activities if we are to become authentic leaders. Being aligned means becoming more of yourself and transcending the limits that once held you back.”    

I fully agree. For over 20 years my own passion and alignment has focused on gender equality and supporting women to find their voice, foster their careers, and recognize the power that each of us already have.     

I am incredibly grateful that GBTA acquired WINiT to strengthen the organization. After 8 years serving as the President, Vice Chair and currently as Chair, I shared with board my intent to step down in 2023 and hand over the reins to the next generation of leaders to take our mission forward.    

In February, we will be announcing our new leadership structure and we hope you will SAVE THE DATE and join us for a virtual event to celebrate International Women’s Day: March 8th 11:00 AM eastern.

Take the GBTA Poll: What’s Your Outlook on Business Travel?

Three years ago, GBTA launched “The Business Travel Recovery Poll” to track the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. After executing 29 almost-monthly versions of the poll—and with industry recovery steadily continuing—it’s time to move to a new chapter.

So we are pivoting the poll to now become the quarterly “GBTA Business Travel Outlook.” The new outlook poll will continue to track recovery while also focusing on timely and trending topics for our industry and business travel overall. Your feedback is critical to keep GBTA members, industry partners, government agencies, and media outlets informed across the globe about the latest happenings in global business travel.

GBTA 2023 Convention Ambassador Program

GBTA is looking for members to each serve 8 hours during Convention 2023 as Convention Ambassadors. All Ambassadors will receive a preferred registration rate of $150 to attend 2023 GBTA Convention.
