From Innovation to Inclusion, GBTA Shares Insights and Embraces Change

Today finds me at the 2024 ITB Berlin Convention sharing our GBTA insights on how the industry is charting the next course for global business travel. In addition to our latest research and forecasts, I will be outlining factors poised to impact what’s ahead − from broader forces at play, to innovation beyond disruption, to how we’re putting travelers and our teams at the center. Through innovative and collaborative energy, we’ll be able to build what's next – for each other and the planet – with work-related travel helping make it all happen in our industry and well beyond.

Speaking of GBTA Research, have you seen us lately? We just launched a new online “showcase” focused on “all things Research” on our GBTA website. From trending data to our library of research reports to ongoing GBTA poll results and more, you can now access it all in one place. If you are a member, industry professional or pondering sponsored research, you’ll want to bookmark and make the site a regular destination to harness the power of GBTA Research.

As GBTA continues to move forward, so does a very important topic for our industry and beyond: diversity, equity and inclusion or “DEI.” Today’s narrative is moving more toward the concept of “inclusion” and GBTA is embracing that change. At the recommendation of our global DEI Committee and with Board support, the GBTA DEI Committee has changed its name to the “GBTA Inclusion and Culture Committee.” Learn more about the Inclusion and Culture Committee here and how you can get involved.

And what a great time to focus on inclusion. This Friday, March 8, the world commemorates International Women’s Day, a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women while also calling for accelerating women’s equality. GBTA WINiT will be hosting a free, live webinar that day themed around #InspireInclusion. Tune in to hear from women leaders in business travel about creating inclusive environments and fostering belonging and empowerment. All are welcome so we hope you’ll sign up to attend.

With a mission to help women advance in their travel industry careers, GBTA WINiT, has been on the move – literally. As part of a global expansion initiative, WINiT is launching a new EMEA Chapter. The new chapter will focus on WINiT’s key pillars of mentorship, education and community and bringing it to the regional level. Find out about WINiT here and watch for more details about the new EMEA Chapter chair, founding members and how to connect if you’re interested in being part of this new WINiT community.
