The Essential, Collective Voice of Business Travel in the Midst of Noise
It is fair to say there is a lot going on in the world right now – and with that comes a deluge of continuous information and perspectives. New challenges make it critical, amidst it all, for our $1.48 trillion business travel sector to come together as a community to navigate what’s next for our companies, employees and industry and to ensure we are part of the global conversation.
Representing our industry’s “voice” related to recent US government actions is just one of those ways, including the release of our GBTA global poll on the topic. Over the past week alone, we’ve responded to media inquiries from the likes of Bloomberg, Reuters, Financial Times and the Wall Street Journal, all seeking insights into what’s on the horizon for employee travel, meetings, events and more. Equally important, we hope this research helps you navigate through some recent challenges. We’ll continue to follow and engage on this evolving topic, including as a part of GBTA’s global advocacy efforts and during our annual U.S. Legislative Summit June 10-12.
Uncertainty and change make coming together even more vital – and our industry’s mission and message more important. This could be seen while our GBTA team and I were in Toronto last week for the GBTA Canada Conference, gathering 670+ engaged professionals from across Canada, with almost a third attending for the first time. The value of coming together is also evident at the Chapter Presidents Council Meeting which I’m attending today in North Carolina, with GBTA’s CPC leaders reflecting the voices of our 38 chapters across the U.S. And, it is also why our GBTA team and I look forward to meeting so many of you again in Singapore for our 4th GBTA APAC Conference, May 27-28.
And just a reminder that the ultimate way to represent and advance the voice of GBTA and our industry is as a member of the global GBTA Board of Directors. Several seats are open and we’ve extended the deadline to this Friday, May 9th, to accept nominations. Consider nominating yourself or a qualified peer (with their permission). Members should look for a personalized email from “Election Services” and contact gbtahelp@electionsservicescorp.com if you have any questions.
Ideas, relationships and transformation are what happens when people get together. And we all have examples of where even the smallest interaction has been an impetus to creating something great. Let’s keep connecting. And if you have something you’d like GBTA to hear about, please reach out to share it with me.
