GBTA Announces Mark Cuschieri as New European Advisory Board Chair

Alexandria, VA (April 23, 2019) – The Global Business Travel Association (GBTA), the voice of the global business travel industry, announced Mark Cuschieri to become the new European Advisory Board Chair. In this role, Cuschieri will lead the advisory board in providing strategic direction behind GBTA’s efforts in Europe.

Mark has played a pivotal role in benchmarking and shaping our progammes and offerings in the past and is sure to be an invaluable asset in the strategic planning of our professional development opportunities and our 10th annual conference in Munich this autumn.”

Cuschieri is Executive Director for Global Travel at UBS. He has been with the firm since 2007 and is responsible for setting the vision and overall strategic direction of the global travel program in over 50 countries. He has over 25 years in the corporate travel industry and has held roles as a Travel Buyer and Supplier. He previously served as chair of the Institute of Travel Management (ITM) from 2015-2017. He also served as a member on the ITM Board of Directors from 2010-2018 and is a Non-Executive Director for FELLO Travel Management Company.

He also sits on the Strategic Benchmark Group, a group of senior executives responsible for travel management, travel and meetings management or mobility management in multinational companies. The group aims to identify and explore the strategic issues of the future, identify and evaluate new trends at an early stage and establish meaningful benchmarks.

In 2014, Cuschieri was honoured with the prestigious Luoma Award. GBTA established the Louma Award in 2011 in honor of Jutta Luoma, the Executive Director of the Finnish Business Travel Association. The Award recognizes a volunteer who supports the development of GBTA and its local market partners in Europe.

GBTA would also like to recognize and thank Marc Zuber for his contributions. He filled the role of chair since 2017.
